Seminole County Animal Services is making it easier for County residents with disabilities or those residents who are 65 years of age (or older) to adopt pets through "Pet Pals”. Qualifying residents must be present to adopt and license a pet of their choice for a reduced fee of $10, which includes the adoption and license fees, spaying or neutering, required vaccinations and an implanted microchip for identification.
There are many lovable cats and dogs available at the County's animal shelter, and pets can help to provide companionship, fun and health benefits for these County residents! Adoptions hours are Monday - Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, and Closed on Sundays and Holidays. This opportunity is limited to one (1) pet per household, and requires government issued photo identification to verify residency.
On September 23, 2014, Seminole County Resolution #2014-R-182 was adopted by the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). All fee changes contained within this resolution (with the exception of annual pet license fees) will become effective as of October 1, 2014, which signifies the beginning of the County’s fiscal year. CLICK HERE to access Seminole County Resolution #2014-R-182.
Effective September 1, 2014, Seminole County Animal Services (SCAS) will only accept those animals that were found within Seminole County and have been brought to our shelter by Seminole County residents (photo identification is required). While this policy is intended to cover the processing of stray animals received over the counter, it also covers owner-surrendered animals unless those same animals had been adopted from our shelter. This policy does not affect the adoption process, which remains open to the general public.
For the purposes of public safety, it is highly recommended that any person that observes stray animals within Seminole County should avoid contact with same and immediately report the situation to our shelter. It also remains the responsibility of residents of other counties to locate resources for their owned animals within their own municipalities, and to locate other options that may be available to them if they were to travel to Seminole County. Please be sure to contact our shelter at phone #407-665-5201 with any questions regarding this policy.
